Join us on First Thursday on Main at the Center for Architecture

AIA Columbia will be opening the doors of the AIASC Center for Architecture at 1530 Main Street as part of September’s First Thursday festivities!

If you missed the open house in the spring, here’s your chance because selected student work from the 2018 spring semester at Clemson University’s School of Architecture will be on display.  During the spring, 58 senior undergraduate students and 4 faculty members explored what a future cultural arts center might look like in Columbia.

While these projects were speculative in nature, the semester-long collaborative project featured input by real-world local stakeholders, including AIA COLUMBIA, Historic Columbia, Richland Library, OneColumbia and the City of Columbia Government. Students received insight into Columbia’s history the unique conditions of an historic site and goals for future development along the North Main Street Corridor, focusing on the growing need for both fine and performing arts space in the city.
