“This project is an addition and renovation to the SC State Museum, located in the National Register, listed as the Columbia Mills Building.  New program spaces include an observatory that will house a rare 1926 Alvin Clark 12 3/8” refracting telescope; South Carolina’s largest planetarium, seating 200; and a 235-capacity 4D theater, the first 4D theater in the state, as well as all new entry public spaces.  The project is designed in association with Clark Patterson Lee Architects in Charlotte, Cincinnati-based JRA “experience” designers, and Sim Ex-Iwerks 4D theater designers.”
