Join Historic Columbia at McCants and tour the new homes which occupy the historic Fannie McCants Elementary School.
Students last roamed McCants Elementary School’s halls in 1999. Its new life as an eleven-unit townhome development in the heart of historic Earlewood began when renovations were completed by Hill Construction Company in the fall of 2017. Zack Wheeler spearheaded the project with his father, Jeff, the other half of Columbia real estate development company Wheeler & Wheeler.

Less than a block from
the Congaree River, The Cathy Novinger Girl Scout Leadership Center promotes
the Girl Scouts program and develops tomorrow’s future leaders through
activities in energizing, flexible educational, conference and overnight
spaces.
The program focuses on
specific core concepts of Girl Scouting – business enterprise, global
citizenship, healthy living, the arts, outdoor education, and STEM activities,
with a dedicated space for each of these activities to occur in a dynamic,
colorful space. The colorful exterior hints to visitors the fun activities
contained inside while also serving as an anchor to the future gateway into the
City’s Innovista design district.
The experience brings
together a variety of spaces:
a 200-person event facility and kitchen
office suite and conference rooms
theme inspired bunk rooms
a creative art studio
an exploratory science lab
a retail store
a rock climbing wall
outdoor kitchen and gathering areas
fire pit and splash pad
While the parts may
seem very different, a fun and professional aesthetic supports a consistent theme
that when you are here, “girls rule.” A complete transformation of an existing
building, BOUDREAUX carried the Girl Scout goals and brand identity through the
selection of furnishings and design of environmental graphics.
