USC Classroom / Laboratory Redevelopment

Tuesday, November 12
12:00pm – 1:00pm

701 Main Street,
Columbia, SC

WTS collaborated with EYP for the renovation of the former Law School Center. The renovation provides for the complete gutting and abatement of approximately 180,000 SF of the 1970’s structure. The renovation creates three floors of undergraduate chemistry teaching laboratories, related student spaces and a new entrance atrium, student gathering, and multiple collaboration spaces.

The new classroom and undergraduate laboratories will provide a highly transparent environment which puts safety and science on display. The laboratories will provide three floors of state-of-the-art laboratories for Honors Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, and Physical and Analytical Chemistry. Repurposing of an existing structure in the heart of a tight urban campus provided an economically and sustainable approach to meeting the increasing demand for undergraduate chemistry teaching spaces.

Size: 192,000 SF | Cost: $40 Million

Meeting, Tour, and Lunch:

$10 for AIA Columbia members
$15 for non-members
