The new entrance buildings and animal habitats for Riverbanks Zoo & Garden create an iconic and welcoming image for one of the Nation’s most recognized zoological parks. Design features of the new entry include a pedestrian bridge, a landscaped entry plaza with entry gates, a new gift shop and guest services building, as well as three new animal habitats including Grizzly Ridge, Otter Run, and Sea Lion Landing. Conceived as a village of separate structures, these new facilities serve to define the character of the new entry while striking a unique balance between rustic and contemporary forms.
