MEMBERSHIP MEETING | Solar Nirvana – Tour of Columbia Museum of Art’s Solar Array

Join AIA Greater Columbia & USGBC-SC Midlands Branch for lunch and a tour of the largest commercial solar panel installation (41kW) in Columbia on Friday, January 28th! Come and hear from the installer, engineer, and building owner to find out everything you need to know about this growing source of renewable energy.
Due to the limited amount of meeting space at the Columbia Museum of Art, we will meet a few blocks away at Edens & Avant (11th floor of 1221 Main) for registration, lunch and a short program, then walk down to the Museum for the tour. Please try and arrive between 11:30 and 11:45. Edens & Avant occupies 3 floors of 1221 Main (9-11). Take the elevator to floor 10, where you will be directed internally up to the 11th floor.
Free parking is available at Edens & Avant, but will need to be validated after the program. Additional metered parking is available along Main Street.
Cost: $10 for Members, $15 for Non-Members
AIA CEU will be offered for this meeting.

About AIA Greater Columbia
AIA Greater Columbia Section is an all-volunteer organization which plans and hosts many events for the architecture and design community, as well as the general public. The members regularly participate in membership meetings, continuing education courses, mentoring programs, social and charity events. This year, two board members will represent the chapter at the AIA Grassroots Leadership and Legislative Conference in Washington, DC. The section will continue Kids in Architecture Day in partnership with the Columbia Museum of Art and expand a scholarship design competition with the Clemson University School of Architecture. In the fall, they plan on assisting Richland School District Two with a program for their ALERT students on architecture. Towards the end of the year, the section will host the second annual Design and Build Gingerbread House Competition and Auction, raising money for a local charity. They also regularly team up with other local professional and design related organizations to promote interaction between the design-related disciplines.
